Day Two of our Colorado Vacation was jammed pack with so much of THE BEST of Denver! Do enjoy…!
The first nine photos are from our journey to historical queen, icon, and legend, Molly Brown’s Victorian Mansion, located just a few blocks behind the Colorado State Capitol, which was heavily highlighted in Colorado: Day One. For those of you who don’t know who Molly Brown is – like Alyssa and Cody before this tour – SHAME ON YOU! She was a women’s rights suffragist, philanthropist, and socialite, who is best known for having been aboard the Titanic when it sank in 1912. She earned herself the nickname, The Unsinkable Molly Brown, when she encouraged the crew of Lifeboat No. 6 to turn around and return to the debris of the sunken ocean liner and search for survivors.
Following Molly’s, we were all starving and had intended to go to this one restaurant near the Denver Art Museum, which was our next stop, but on the way to park, Alyssa spotted this alternative place that we ended up going to and had THE BEST time! They were playing BINGO inside and we got to participate as we had lunch. It was an unexpected BLAST! All four of us were incredibly thankful for Alyssa’s find because it was without a doubt THE BEST time!
Following our BINGO lunch, we went to the Denver Art Museum (or DAM as the front desk attendant so lovingly called it) and really enjoyed ourselves taking in the class and culture offered. Unfortunately, much of the museum was under construction, but when it’s finished in 2022, it’ll be MASSIVE! It’ll have seven floors of art sprawled across at least two buildings! I cannot wait to return one day, but what was available to us did not disappoint. The building itself was a true work of art, so all in all, despite the closures, our experience was extraordinary.
Up next was the Denver Botanic Gardens. I’m a HUGE garden enthusiast and loved every second of our extended afternoon there. I was a bit surprised by how many events were occurring that Sunday afternoon in the gardens, there was a funeral, and at least two weddings – Cody and I think three, but Melissa and Alyssa swear it was only two – nonetheless, lots of activity going on outside the normal traffic flow of visitors such as ourselves.
Alyssa refused to acknowledge Denver as a wild west or southwest town, despite all “the evidence stacking up.” Look at this building below and tell me that doesn’t look wild west to you. I’ve easily seen a dozen westerns where Denver plays some sort of role in the story. Either the cowboys start their journey there or they end it, but either way, Denver comes into play.
Our hotel couldn’t have had a more perfect location given all that we were able to do within walking distance, but the hotel room itself was mediocre at best. I did have a wonderfully relaxing time sitting out on the pool deck and working on my blog. It made a lovely location for my lil’ writing exercises and gave me these final three photos for your viewing pleasure.
At the conclusion of this day Cody and Alyssa had to return to Fort Collins, so they could go to university the next morning, so needless to say, our evening ended on a bittersweet note. Melissa and I had THE BEST time with them! I told Melissa prior to this trip that she was going to absolutely love Cody as much as she did Alyssa and I was very much correct. Both Melissa and I agree they make the perfect pair and we adore the two of them infinitely. We hated for our weekend to end, but are eternally thankful for the times we had and the memories we created.
THANK YOU all so very much for viewing! I appreciate you greatly! PLEASE feel free to leave me a comment below! You know how much I LOVE reading and responding to them! My next post will be for Day Three and let me tell you what, we kicked the horror into high gear with this one! Not only did we end our day with a stay at The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado (think Stephen King’s, The Shining), but we also made a lil’ pitstop in Boulder, Colorado to take photos of the JonBenét Ramsey house! Trust me, this is one post of mine that you will NOT want to miss!
Looks like you guys are having a wonderful trip! Denver has so much more to offer than I realized! I love your pictures from the gardens. They look professional!
Oh my goodness! Thank you! I do try for the perfect picture in nearly every shot I take, so I appreciate your kind words! Denver is amazing! We absolutely loved the city!
Another set of great pics. How did the gardens there compare to the ones y’all got in st. Louis?
Thank you & the Denver Botanic Gardens were definitely smaller than the Missouri Botanical Gardens, but they most definitely maximized their space! I’d definitely go back if ever in Denver again!
Another round of great pictures! That’s exactly what I would have hoped Molly Brown’s mansion would look like, giant polar bear rug included haha! The gardens are gorgeous too! So happy you guys are having the best time!
Thank you & yes! Her mansion was on point for what Melissa & I thought it’d be like given Kathy Bated depiction of her in Titanic! We’re loving it here!!!
I am so happy for the two of you! I’m glad you are taking in all the wonderful sites that Denver has to offer. I do hope when you had your little stop off in Boulder you took the time to check out downtown, had some Ben & Jerry’s, and chilled at Celestial Seasonings! Can’t wait to see you next post!
Thank you! We definitely stopped off at Pearl Street downtown Boulder! Be on the lookout for those photos next!
Beautiful pictures! It looks like you had a great time, I’m glad you enjoyed Denver!!!
We loved Denver! Such a wonderful city! Would happily visit again!
