New England Day Eight: Boston, Massachusetts

This was our only true full day in Boston and needless to say, IT WASN’T ENOUGH! There was just so much to see and do that obviously we couldn’t get it all in, but as you’re about to see, we definitely made the most of our time…

Kamber and I eagerly wanted to walk The Freedom Trail, HOWEVER, it is way longer than any of us anticipated and being the only two true walkers in the group, we opted to come back another time and do this. We did go to where the map told us to go to start the walk, but it was a bust, only thing we got from it was some great photos of the water. The actual starting point was fairly further away.
This statue is in Boston Common. Founded in 1634, it remains America’s oldest park and celebrates many historical figures and moments in our nation’s history.
“The British are coming!”
The statue of the man on the horse is of George Washington. I have no clue who the one in the fountain is of, but look at that skyline! I LOVE cityscapes!
As beautiful as Boston Common looked while we were there in early October, I’m sure it is just jaw-dropping in the summer months! Can’t wait to go back and see it!
This statue commemorates the discovery that the inhaling of ether causes insensibility to pain. First proved to the world at the Massachusetts Central Hospital here in Boston.
Love me some Japanese lanterns!
Melissa and Nancy lookin’ good!
Best part of the day was when some guy said he liked my coat despite me looking like Paul Revere. Even though he didn’t know his history (Paul was an American, not British), I happily took the compliment!
There was this women’s race going on and there were thousands of women running! We had no clue till we tried to go and were flogged by the hoards of people everywhere! It was super exciting to see though!
Zoom in on Nancy’s face.
One thing I loved about Boston was how many people were always out and about. People walking, jogging, walking their dogs, just whatever. You could tell they all really loved and felt safe in their city and that made me so happy to see. Reminded me of Cutesville.
They have such a beautiful skyline to me. Such a mix of the old and new.
I hate that I don’t remember what this monument is for, but I loved it quite a bit!
Another thing I love: fountains!
The Massachusetts State House sits at the western edge of Boston Common and has been in use since 1798!
“Where everybody knows your name!”
I loved out time at Cheers. Being such an iconic television show I was beyond excited to be able to eat here.
Going someplace where everybody knows your name is just like our lives in Cutesville, so we were really feeling that home away from home feeling in Boston.
This staircase was too neat not to post. Give me all the spirals.
As soon as I wrap up “Modern Family” I’ve decided I’m going to start watching “Cheers” and I’m most excited! I remember watching it when I was little with my grandparents, so this’ll be fun.
Charles on Charles.
There were just people always out and about and I just loved it!
The Marriott Boston Customs House is the clock tower skyscraper visible all over town. Apparently there’s an observation platform up top that we didn’t know about till it was too late. Definitely something I’ll be doing when I return.
I dressed in clothing appropriate for the New England Aquarium, which we thought we were going to get to go visit, but alas, they were sold out. Nonetheless, we walked around the harbor and that was another cute experience.
Like I said in a previous post, American flags were literally everywhere in New England.
Love me a good sailing ship.
Just walking around town.
Loved the way the sunlight illuminated the lamp.
Wishing we had time to do a whaling tour, but like I keep saying, something else to do next time!
When you see a poster of Mariah Carey in town you’re not not going to get your picture taken with it. Mariah’s the best!
We did another graveyard tour! Loved this one just as much as the others!
This was our animated tour guide! He was great!
These graves were unbelievably old. I loved all the history in New England!
I’m so glad we did as many graveyard tours as we did because I honestly loved every single one of them. Give me all the haunts!
Boston was just such an incredible city. The perfect blend of the past, present, and future. I cannot honestly wait to get back.
Paul Revere! After that guy called me him because of my red coat I was thinking about Paul all day, so to see his burial site was just awesome!
Loved the way the city lights lit up the exterior of this shot.
It was interesting to me how short the rows were between the graves. I guess people really weren’t as tall back then.
Love that clock tower and love this town!

As always, THANK YOU so much for viewing! I cannot thank you enough! Please feel free to leave me a comment below as I LOVE reading and responding to them! I’ll be back very soon with the FINAL day from our New England vacation, but until then, I wish you all, all the best!
