Step By Step

On June 1st I entered a Summer Step Challenge on the app, HealthyWage. This particular challenge runs for three months, so from June 1st through August 31st. I bet $90 on myself ($30 a month) that I would meet or exceed my goal by the end of the challenge. If I succeed, I win all of my money back, plus a portion of the money from all those who failed. Yes, the money raises the stakes, but the true point of the challenge is to increase one’s healthy lifestyle. This is why I’m participating, I want to slim down.

You may recall I’ve participated in HealthyWage Challenges before. I’ve always won my step challenges, but lost my weightloss one back in the day. Losing 10% of my body weight proved to be difficult for me, but you best believe I have little to no difficulty making these steps. This is why I’m sharing this post now, to further hold myself accountable. I can’t be looking like a loser to you all come the end of August! This is motivation for me to continue succeeding!

HealthyWage takes your sixty day average of steps and increases that by 25% to give you your daily step goal. For this Summer Step Challenge my daily step goal is 10,000. So, it’s expected by the end of August I’ve completed 900,000 steps. Now yes, that sounds like a lot, but on an average workday alone I do an easy 12,000, so I’m feeling quite confident I got this. Plus, we just spent a week at the Disneyland Resort – enough said!

Given my competitive nature, I don’t just want to surpass those 900,000 steps, I want to do so while remaining in the Top Ten! There are 152 participants and I’ve been falling somewhere 9 to 5 this entire time. I refuse to abdicate the upper echelon!

So, if you’re looking for a fun-filled way to get a little exercise in, then I would definitely suggest HealthyWage! I’ve had this app for several years now and always enjoy the challenge I’ve chosen. You never have to do anything more than you’re interested in doing, so the choice is always yours! 10/10.
