SoCal June 2023: Part Three

FINALLY, the third and final part of my Southern California vacation has arrived and just like Vanessa Williams, I went and saved the best for last! I spent my final full day out west at The Happiest Place on Earth: Disneyland!

As you’ll soon see from the photos, Amanda and I had THE BEST day! Amanda and I have been to the Disneyland Resort approximately two hundreds times together and each times feels like a new personal best honestly and this time around was certainly no exception! Now you’ll remember in Part Two how I complained (a lot) about my lack of picture taking, well, that most definitely wasn’t a problem this day. Even though I’ve been to Disneyland once already this year and have easily been over three hundreds times, I still cannot take enough pictures there! So please, do enjoy this third and final entry into my Southern California vacation series!

We started our day off in Mickey’s Toon Town, which was recently revamped and renovated and we both agreed, we loved it more than ever! We basically walked right on to Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway and the little ditty that played throughout, “nothing can stop us now,” became our official theme song of the day because it genuinely felt that way! The day was perfect in every way a day can be!

Amanda and I LOVE the character Pinocchio! In our opinion, he’s simply the best! We love his attraction in Fantasyland, Pinocchio’s Daring Journey, so much so in fact that we think everyone should experience this outstanding ride. Well, our love for this world class attraction once garnered us a moniker that was intended to be an insult, but instantly turned out to be one of the best things anyone has ever called either of us: a Disneyland Bully.

Several years ago, Amanda and I were at Disneyland with our friend, who was several years older than us, and her insufferable daughter, who was our age. We rode Pinocchio’s Daring Journey with them and naturally had the best time on it, or so we thought. Later that day when tensions were high between us and the nefarious daughter, she told Amanda and I we were a pair of Disneyland Bullies because we “made” her mom ride Pinocchio when she apparently didn’t want to. When we asked our friend if she in fact didn’t want to ride it, she said she didn’t mind riding it whatsoever, but nonetheless, the words had been uttered and rather than allow them to be insulting, we took them and wore them as a badge of honor. We figured if we were going to be bullies anywhere, we certainly wanted it to be in Disneyland.

I asked a random group of strangers to capture this next photo because I knew it was just too cute to not be taken. I had to hand my phone to them across the planters and everything. It was a bit awkward and some work, but look at how cute this was! Definitely worth it.

The next photo is of the Mandalorian and Grogu and let me tell you what, that was one of my favorite character interactions ever. I was doing a taste test of an intergalactic muffin and he walked up to me and said “the kid” (Grogu) wanted my muffin. It was too cute and perfect. Really made our day.

Seeing the fireworks like we did from Batuu, or Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, was an absolute surreal experience. Felt just like I was in Return of the Jedi, celebrating the downfall of the Empire.

That wraps up my perfect day at Disney, but I have one last photo to share and one last story to tell. My Co-Pilot, Logan, my baby California brother who is one third of the triplets, drove me to the airport. It was a beautiful, full-circle moment for me that warmed my heart. I got to sit in his passenger’s seat after all those years of him sitting in mine. Made me so unbelievably happy.

Prior to that, Logan, Garrett, and Logan’s girlfriend, Izzy, and I all went and had lunch at BJ’s where the waitress gave me this cute Father’s Day glass. At the time I laughed it off, but let me tell you what, I received the most heartwarming and beautiful text on Father’s Day from a young friend and I will cherish that screenshot forever. Then the day after that I reconnected with a friend who I had a falling out with and we have been in close contact since. It was the most absolutely perfect way to come home from an absolutely perfect vacation. I feel so blessed in every sense of the word.

As always, THANK YOU so much for viewing! I appreciate you greatly! Feel free to leave me a comment below as I love reading and responding to them! I’ll return soon with another all new post, so until then, I wish you all, all the best!

  1. Looks like a whole lot of fun and what a funny thing to call someone a disneyland bully. Now thats just crazy.

    1. Yes! It was quite the compliment! We really owe her because I’m certain we never would’ve arrived at that illustrious name on our own!
