This was our final full day in Detroit and we certainly put those hours to good use…
Like I said in the previous post, Detroit gave me strong Gotham City vibes and I loved that. This city was great!
We had breakfast on this morning at the most wonderful place, Sugah Please! They’d only been open for forty-five days, but they were rockin’ it! There was some television show there filming an episode and all kinds of patrons were enjoying their phenomenal food! Our waitress was amazing, we met the outstanding owner, just an all in all perfect experience! I wish them all the best! 10/10! Would Absolutely Recommend!
Sadly, I don’t remember which one, but this building was for another secret society type like the Mason’s & their temple from the night before. Detroit seemed to have a lot of those. Maybe Saint Louis does too and I’m somehow unaware. Unclear.
After all the replicas around Mackinac and everyone’s encouragement to do so, we made it to the Detroit Institute of Arts. You all know I love a good art museum. If there’s one in the city I’m visiting, I’m nearly guaranteed to go. This one was especially amazing! Their collection is valued at 8.9 Billion Dollars! We know this because they had it all assessed when the city thought they were going to have to sell the pieces to get out of debt. Thank goodness that never materialized!
This place was a real labyrinth! We got twisted and turned around plenty of times, but always in the best of ways!
“When you call my name, it’s like a little prayer.”
Honestly, this place was great. Super expansive with tons of amazing art.
Either they had a lot of religious art or it just so happens that’s where I was taking a lot of my pictures because my camera roll is flooded by it!
Taking it all in.
I was obsessed with the art deco architecture of many of the skyscrapers downtown Detroit,
Nancy with our Jalapeño Corn Bread from Presley’s. This cute restaurant we had dinner at before our Detroit Pistons NBA game.
They had a fair amount of cute little parks and plazas downtown. I really cannot give enough praise to Detroit as a whole, but especially their downtown area.
They had this fall festival along Columbia Street, which was a busy pedestrian street. It offered up plenty of photo opportunities, so needless to say, we had to walk up and down it.
Love that urban life.
Definitely the most different looking arena I’ve ever seen. Looks like more of an office building than a stadium.
We had THE BEST time at the Detroit Pistons game! They lost 118 to 122 against the Boston Celtics. It was definitely a nail biter! Makes me wish so badly Saint Louis would get an NBA team. I could see myself attending regularly!
I’m telling you all, Gotham City. Watch “Batman” or “Batman Returns” and you’ll think Detroit.
This was right near our hotel. I need to return to Detroit in the summertime, so I can experience their river walk! Which is apparently the best in the country according to all the advertisements we saw showcasing it as such.
I have such an immense love for city centers/downtowns and Detroit’s definitely bolstered that love further.
You know we’re not missing a photo opportunity!
As always, THANK YOU all so much for viewing! Feel free to leave a comment below as I love reading and responding to them! I’ll be back in two days time with my final post from our Pure Michigan Vacation series, so until then, I wish you all, all the best!
Working hard everyday towards achieving my goal of becoming an international best-selling author. Wrote the book, just need the agent and publisher. Received the ultimate endorsement when Britney Spears wrote me saying she'd be one of the first in line to buy my book! #FreeBritney
I’d love to go back here now!
It was amazing! We loved it!
