Spotlight St. Louis: Black Forest Kaffee Haus

Anyone who follows me on Snapchat knows that I love – and I do mean LOVE – reviewing the taste of new beverages. My recent tasting of Coca-Cola’s brand new limited-edition flavor, Coca-Cola Starlight, which according to Coke is flavored like Space, was a truly out-of-this-world sampling! Like Paula Abdul (who did the Diet Coke commercials in the early 90’s) I straight up LOVED it! In fact, I loved it so much that I’ve since bought three packs! I mean, come on now, it’s limited edition! How could I not buy three packs in three days!?! After all, who even knows how long it’ll be around for before it gets sucked into the black hole of past beverages!?!

Well, that lil’ sixty second clip of me enjoying Coca-Cola Starlight for the first time prompted a handful of reactions and each one of them at some point in our conversation suggested I do more reviews. Now this is something I’ve been told many times before, but because I’m no foodie, I’ve always just dismissed the idea. Then I got to thinking, food isn’t the only thing on the menu, so I opted to take the advice given to me by all those wonderful friends (ESPECIALLY that of my good friend Jody and her dynamic daughter Abbey who were most persistent) and do my first true review of a brand new local dining establishment: Black Forest Kaffee Haus because the only beverage I love more in this world than soda is coffee!

Before I begin my true review I must first thank a former coworker of mine, Jeanne. She went to Black Forest when they first opened in January and shared with me all the photos from her experience and I knew then that this place was a MUST GO for me, so really and truly, THANK YOU Jeanne! I don’t know when I would’ve learned of it otherwise! You really are simply the best!

Alright, let me just start by saying this, from the very moment you walk up on the place, you know your experience is going to be just wonderful. It legit looks like an establishment straight out of Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade from the Harry Potter series! Not gonna lie, I was immediately enamored. From the lil’ decorative made-to-look historic sign that hangs from the top corner to the knight that greets you in front of the door, it’s just the cutest. I took over a dozen pictures before I even got inside!

You all already know, once I got inside, my phone never stopped photographing! The entire building was perfectly themed like a Brother’s Grimm Fairytale! Like I said, outside I was thinking all about Harry Potter, but inside, I was immediately transported to Fantasyland inside Disneyland park! From the Cinderella painting on the wall to the Little Red Riding Hood decor around the fireplace and every little thing in between, it was all just so well done that I couldn’t get enough!

The staff of three were all spectacularly superb! Extraordinarily friendly and helpful with answering our questions and making recommendations. Each of our interactions was perfectly pleasant, which only served to enhance the overall ambiance and atmosphere of this exceptionally enchanting establishment.

I first ordered an Iced White Chocolate Mocha, which is my signature drink at Starbucks, so I figured I’d start with it here too. It was completely and totally good. I ordered the largest size they had, which was the size of a Starbucks Tall. Now this is a little smaller than what I’m used to, but I prefer large sized beverages, I always drink a lot. This was by no means a bad thing, I’m just saying it was so good that I wish I had more! Like my one true love Britney Spears would say, “GIMME! GIMME MORE!”

My Apple Crumb Muffin & Iced White Chocolate Mocha

I also ordered an Apple Crumb Muffin, which I very much enjoyed. The large chunks of apple inside were truly delightful and really added a kick of excitement with each bite. The muffin was plenty big and I was thrilled with my selection. I had contemplated getting the Blueberry Muffin because those are always my favorite, but I made my choice based off the visit to the restroom I took immediately upon entering. The Evil Queen and the poisoned apple she gave Snow White steered me in that most thankful direction.

The restroom, which is arguably the most important part of any establishment for me, was dolled up as much as any other part of Black Forest. The Evil Queen reigned supreme here and I felt just like her while sitting on her “throne” gazing across the room into her mirror, mirror on the wall knowing that I truly was the fairest of them all. This restroom was top notch and a not to be missed part of the place. Even if you don’t have to “go,” you still have to go in here.

Long after Erin and I finished our original orders, we both decided we wanted something else to drink, so I ordered something from the monthly menu. An Iced Love You A Latté, which was a white chocolate and strawberry flavored coffee. Let me tell you what, IT WAS AMAZING! Oh, and in case you couldn’t tell, white chocolate is my favorite. Again, I found myself wishing my cup was bigger because this one was just too delicious not to crave more! I nearly ordered the Black Forest Mocha, which is made of cherry and mocha flavors and is their signature beverage, but figured February is almost over, so my chance of getting the Love You A Latté was nearly all dried up!

Erin first ordered an Iced Oatmilk Latté and a Brat on Bun before later getting a Black Forest Mocha herself and she loved all three things she got, which seems par for the course here. We got six different items and loved every single one, so I have no doubt in my mind that anything anyone orders will be top notch! It certainly wouldn’t take Goldilocks two wrong tries to find her perfect pairing here!

Overall, Black Forest Kaffee Haus is a NOT TO BE MISSED establishment that I’m eternally thankful to Jeanne for introducing me to because this place was just all around fantastical and fantastic! If they had a wishing well I’d be wishing for larger sizes, but past that, everything else was perfect and I already can’t wait till my next visit back!

Black Forest Kaffee Haus is located at 2900 Sidney Street, St. Louis, MO, 63104 in the Tower Grove East neighborhood. They’re only open Friday’s from 7:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. and then 8:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. on Saturday’s and Sunday’s. I had no problem finding street side parking and given that it’s on a corner lot, there should be an abundance of parking spots any one of the four ways. Black Forest Kaffee Haus is on Facebook and can also be found on Instagram @blackforestkaffee.

As always, THANK YOU ALL so much for reading! I appreciate you greatly! Please feel free to leave me a comment below as you already know I LOVE reading and responding to them! I look forward to each of you venturing out to Black Forest Kaffee Haus yourself someday soon and giving this lovely establishment the love it so very much deserves! I’ll be back soon with another all new post, but until then, I wish you all, all the best!
