South Dakota Day Four: The Black Hills & doubling up on Mount Rushmore

This was the day I had been waiting YEARS for! I FINALLY got to see Mount Rushmore – TWICE! We began our day at Bear Country USA, which was a majestic and mesmerizing experience with those wondrous animals coming right up to our car! We then went to Mount Rushmore and wow, just WOW! It was everything I was hoping for and more. I LOVED IT! Next came Crazy Horse, which was an absolute abomination, but that deserves its own blog post, so more to follow on that atrocity. We spent the afternoon driving through the breathtaking Black Hills and it was just serene and spectacular! We loved it so much! We returned to Mount Rushmore for the evening show and it was a truly wholesome and patriotic experience that moved me to tears. Please enjoy these photos from our phenomenal day…!

For me, this was one of my favorite moments of the entire trip! This place was just outstanding!
Literally ALL the animals – minus the Mountain Lions – could roam freely right up to your vehicle. It made the experience surreal.
These bear cubs had my whole heart. I could’ve watched these lil’ babies all day.
Visible from the road heading into the National Park.
Peek-A-Boo!
I honestly could not be more proud to be from the Land of Lincoln, the great state of Illinois. I love it so much!
I looked so cute and was easily the best dressed person there that day.
Jamie & I have been talking about visiting Mount Rushmore for years, so it was quite the moment for us to finally be there.
I love my reflection shots!
“Yeah… it’s a Party in the USA!”
We chose this place because it seemed real cute and wholesome and mostly it was, but after placing our drink orders, we noticed the “Women for Trump” flag across the restaurant above the Pepsi machine. I. About. Died. Women for Trump!?! That’s the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard. Trump is a disgusting pig who belittles women (& everyone for that matter) every chance he gets. They might as well of had a flag reading, “Polar Bears for Global Warming” or “Plants for Pollution.” All means the same. A bunch of self-destructive nonsense.
My BLT & fries were totally fine. Our poor waitress barely spoke English & was the only reason we remained. That damn flag made me mad as Hell, but not as mad as I would end up being later this day…
Apparently this is the world’s largest Bigfoot!
The Black Hills remained me quite a bit of the Black Spire Outpost on Batuu – Star Wars Land at Disney Parks! Clearly Disney was influenced by this gorgeous geography!
I plan on dedicating an entire blog to the Crazy Horse Memorial because it caused me such anger & rage that I could not possibly include it all in this post. Our experience here was unbelievable & one that I was ill-prepared for. Still makes me sick, but it has lit a fire inside of me & given me a new crusade.
This biker bar was real cute & it gave poor Claire quite the experience. She went to use the single stall restroom and the woman inside of it hadn’t locked the door, so poor Claire walked in right as the lady was going to pull her pants down! Claire finally got to meet that Cousin Coochie she swore Jamie & her have in their family!
My grilled fish and rice was delicious!
Every active & retired service member in the audience got to be a part of this truly moving show they do each night & this moment put a good amount of tears in my eyes. It was really special & I absolutely loved it. God Bless America!
Mount Rushmore really was SIMPLY THE BEST! It was as patriotic as it was perfect! 10/10. Highly Recommend. If ever you get the chance to go, take it! You’ll love it too!

As always, THANK YOU so much for viewing! I appreciate your support greatly! Please feel free to leave a comment below as you know I LOVE reading and responding to them! I’ll be back soon with Day Five, so until then, I wish you all, all the best!

  2. They sure haven’t made much progress on old crazy Horse. Mount Rushmore is a true classic though and a wonderful time glad you got to go.

    1. Crazy Horse is an abomination & angers me more than just about anything else, but yes, Mount Rushmore was phenomenal. Loved it dearly.
