South Dakota Days Five & Six: Deadwood & The Drive Home

For our final full day in South Dakota, we left Rapid City and set our course for Deadwood! The town that was recently made famous all over again by the HBO series of the same name! One of the most historically preserved wild west style towns still in existence, Deadwood had plenty for us to see and do, so take a look!

They clearly didn’t have Instagram in mind when creating this sign. They should’ve put a backboard or something behind it, so it was more readable. You can barely tell it says, “Mt. Moriah Cemetery.”
Wild Bill Hickok, read below…
He’s a fellow Illinoisan! Kindred spirits he & I.
Calamity Jane, read below…
We share the same birthday! Kindred spirits she & I.
View of Deadwood from the lookout point.
We did a fun-filled mine tour & had a truly lovely experience.
All I could think about the entire time we were in here was that horror classic, My Bloody Valentine. Love that movie.
These tiny ass candles were all they had for light back in the days of operation for this mine. Holy shit. I couldn’t do it.
Deadwood was super cute.
We ate lunch here at the Steakhouse Saloon.
Peep the Bison on the roof! Loved it!
Cloud Porn.
They did wild west reenactments every couple of hours.
The Days of 76 Museum was GREAT! Claire & I had THE BEST time!
PLENTY of phenomenal photo opportunities!
HONK! HONK! “Where to miss?” IYKYK.
Farewell Deadwood!
We had breakfast on Day Six at the Phillips Avenue Diner downtown Sioux Falls because we saw it the first day we were there & fell in love with how cute it was!
This place reminded Claire & I of that devolving abomination of a show that we both once loved & now passionately despise, Riverdale.
Our last photo from South Dakota. We really did have the most magical & wonderful time. 10/10. Highly recommend.

THANK YOU so much for following along my South Dakota vacation with me! I LOVE being able to share my photos and experiences with you and I appreciate your willingness to come view them! You’re simply the best! Please feel free to leave a comment below as I LOVE reading and responding to them! 1. Looks like you had a real good trip and saw a whole lot of things that I don’t even remember being up there when I went. Maybe its time for me to start thinking about packing up the old camper and heading back that way.

    1. I loved everything about my trip to South Dakota & would STRONGLY suggest you go back if given the chance! We just loved it!
