New York City Day Three: Thank You For Being A Friend

Day Three was an extraordinarily special one because my dear friend, Kasey, and I were reunited with our friend, Sasha, who we met on our trip to London and Paris back around New Year’s Eve 2006/2007. We would take these excursions with this company, EF Tours, and people from all around the country would be on them, this particular trip Sasha being one. It’s absolutely awesome to have kept in contact with someone we only knew for that one international week together!

While we didn’t see as many iconic institutions as we did on Day Two, we did manage to take in some outstanding sights & statues that I would’ve never known existed if we hadn’t explored the seashore. So come along and take a glance at all the diversity in attractions and education the city that never sleeps has to offer…

Hoping to make the 2023 edition of “The Men of Blanche’s Boudoir” calendar!
For lunch I had some of Sophia’s Lasagna with some Sicilian Garlic Bread & a Devereaux’s Delight Cocktail!
Strawberry Cheesecake! It was delicious!
Look at the four of us, we’re just like The Golden Girls!
These lucky patrons got to dine out on the Lanai!
So badly wish we could’ve ate in the kitchen, but oh well. Just another excuse to visit this incredible attraction in another city!
Me & Kasey!
It really wasn’t hard to find!
This ship, The Wavertree, is from 1885 & has sailed around the world three times! It now sits off the pier in the historic portion of New York City. It was a cute lil’ surprise & touring it is free!
The Captain’s Quarters! Accommodations aboard this vessel were infinitely better than any of the military ones we toured the day before!
Love the look of this & find it just adorable, BUT that does NOT mean I would’ve loved to have lived & worked on here back in the day. Oof. This just looks like hard work!
“Aye aye, Captain!”
Downtown Brooklyn
The iconic Brooklyn Bridge! Those towers off to the left were so reflective & clear one almost doesn’t even notice them across the skyline. Wild.
Coast Guard Statue
Yesterday we could see the Empire State Building from basically anywhere we were. Today it was the World Trade Center.
The Statue of Liberty! Next time I’ll be getting MUCH closer!
The Immigrant Statue
Cole walking out the doors of this historic fort. I just thought the city before him looked incredible.
The Korean War Memorial. Along the circle around the statue was a listing of all the countries that participated in the conflict & listed how many were wounded, killed, or went missing from each.
I don’t remember exactly, but statue had something to do with rescuing people at sea.
A portion of the Berlin Wall.
The dark island in the middle is the Irish Potato Famine Memorial, which was a real treat to be able to tour the day after Saint Patrick’s Day.
The illuminated bars were full of various information about Irish immigration.
The Irish Potato Famine Memorial was made to resemble the Irish Countryside.
There was once a stone home here, now just its ruins.
Some 900,000 Irish immigrated to America between 1848-1852 because there was no food left in Ireland & everyone was dying. They transformed New York City & thereby the country.
We walked so much this day it was unreal, but seeing the city from this perspective was just wondrous.
“I want to thank you.”
When I took this photo I figured it was an apple, you know, “The Big Apple.” Now though, I’ve convinced myself this is a peach & that hole in the middle is representative of the peach pit. What do you think?
“Little Island”
This was a neat little park Sasha brought us too that provided us with excellent views of the city at sunset.
Notice that World Trade Center off to the right. It was seriously visible from just about everywhere!
“Little Island” had some of the best views in town! That skyline was magnificent from there!
This bird’s nest looking sculpture is located at Hudson Yard’s shopping mall. People were once allowed up there till others started leaping from it, committing suicide. A tragedy in every sense of the word.
Subway trains for days in this train yard. It was awesome to see.
The Empire State Building just beyond the taxi & the New Yorker!
Kasey & her Singha! This was the beer we saw everywhere when we were in Thailand together back in 2005!
My Shrimp Fried Rice was terrific!
Kasey, Sasha, & me getting one last photo before saying our farewells.

As always, THANK YOU so much for viewing! I appreciate you greatly! Please feel free to leave me a comment below as I love reading and responding to them! I’ll be back incredibly soon with Day Four (when I went to my first NBA game!!!), so until then, I wish you all, all the best!
